Structural / Developmental Editing

Starts at $2,700 for a ~70,000-word novel

This provides an in-depth review of your novel’s big-picture elements such as story arc, plotting, narrative flow, timeline, structure, continuity, characterisation, pacing and voice, ensuring you’re telling the story you want in the most effective way for your genre and audience. You should expect some rewriting (and possibly rethinking) after this edit.

  • Annotated version of the manuscript highlighting examples and suggestions
  • Post-edit consultation to work through the feedback

Copyediting

Starts at $3,500 for a ~70,000-word novel

A copyedit ensures your novel’s text is polished and your story shines. It’s designed for manuscripts that have already been structurally edited or whose structure and flow are already in great shape. A copyedit focuses on spelling, style, sentence structure and consistency, tightening and smoothing line by line. You’ll also receive small-scale suggestions or alerts to pacing, flow, timeline holes or other issues beneath the surface.

  • Edited manuscript with track changes in Microsoft Word
  • Style sheet
  • Editorial notes
  • Consultation after delivery
